Welcome to Mantra & Mood, where we are dedicated to blending the timeless craft of letterpress with modern style. We started Mantra & Mood because we love every aspect of the process of letterpress printing and wanted to create work that would look good in peoples homes and provoke deeper thought about life. We are definitely artists first, so we feel compelled to express our thoughts and feelings on paper. Each one of our prints is a literal mantra that has helped us work through our greatest fears, insecurities, darkness, hopes, dreams--you name it.

We are honored to have our work resonate with people so much that they want it in their homes—it’s a literal dream come true. Because our work is so personal, it’s so special to connect with others in this way. We just hope that you can derive some of the same benefits as we have (more peace, less anxiety, more hope, more joy, etc) and also share in the love of the craft of letterpress.

Alyse Benenson-Weinschenk is the founder and owner of Mantra & Mood. She has been a letterpress printer for over 14 years. She first fell in love with letterpress while attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she graduated with a BFA and a BA.

A few years after she had immersed herself in the world of letterpress, Alyse found out that her Grandfather had been a letterpress printer with his own shop decades before her! The Lucky print in our shop even uses one of his vintage plates from a family member’s birth announcements! She is extremely proud to continue the legacy of letterpress, especially in a way that honors her Grandfather.

Before starting Mantra & Mood, Alyse spent 8 years working in the wedding industry making high-end wedding stationery. She now lives outside of Columbus, Ohio with her husband and their beloved kitty.
